Wish List

Everyone has a wish list, nonprofits included.  This page is put together with the intention of providing one place on the website to go to look for any and all ways to help, support, sponsor, donate, volunteer, partner, or in any other way be a part of the Moneytalk Financial Foundations team.  So, check back often as this page will be the FIRST place updated when new opportunities arise.

Financial Contributions

Financial contributions provide the most flexibility and in some instances is required to provide the services the client needs.  Financial contributions can be made online through the website, Paypal, Paypal Charity, Venmo, or postal mail.

There are 3 main needs where financial contributions are essential to be successful.

1) Securing office & workshop space is first and foremost.  Our own space will allow Moneytalk to increase services, create volunteer opportunities, and meet the much needed daily support needs.  Also, separate secure space is required to be granted access to pull a client’s credit report for them; acquire a dealer’s license to accept donated vehicles and pass them on to a family in need; provide a “store” where clients can pick out the food and non-food items they need; and so much more.

2) Sponsorship opportunities are listed below for dedicated or restricted funding purposes.

3) For the school supply drive, financial contributions will allow us to purchase the supplies in bulk at a reduced cost allowing the donated funds to go further.  Individual items can be donated as well.

Item Donations

Item donations can be dropped off at our home-based location or we can come pick them up.  Reach out and give us a call at 913-538-1465 or email us at contact@moneytalkff.org to schedule.

Raffle Items:

Moneytalk would like for you to join us for some on-line raffle fundraisers.  Part of partnering with the raffle will be helping promote the fundraiser and prize.

Being an on-line fundraiser, we are focused on larger ticket items as they will be the only raffle item in the fundraiser.  Here are some ideas and suggestions.

On these fundraisers, 100% of the funds raised will be used to support Moneytalk programming and general fund needs.  If you would like to donate an item but want to support another organization as well, we will consider splitting the funds 50%/50% as long as the other non-profit promotes the fundraiser as well.

  • Automobile
  • Appliance
  • Autographed sports item – jersey, ball, etc.
  • Your company’s service or product
  • Season tickets to sporting event
  • Use of box seats at a sporting event or show

Contest Prizes:

Moneytalk would like for you to partner with us on some upcoming contests.   Part of the partnership will be helping promote the contest and prize.

Not to spoil the surprise, but there are plans to begin some promotions where prizes will be offered to those who participate, share, like, comment, etc.  Being contest prizes, we are looking for items of any size.

  • Product or service provided by your company
  • Single game tickets to a sporting event
  • Gift card to popular restaurant or store
  • Tickets for 2-4 people at a local activity (Main Event, Top Golf, Sky Zone, Escape Room, Smash Room, etc.)

Furniture, storage, and office supplies:

  • Tables
  • Folding chairs, preferably padded
  • White board (able to mount on the wall)
  • Dry erase markers & erasers
  • Office tables and chairs
  • 2-3 drawer desk height cabinets
  • Trash cans & Cleaning items
  • Reams of copy paper
  • Scissors
  • Scotch tape rolls (or dispenser and refills)
  • Shelving storage units (metal, 4 or 5 shelf)
  • Computers (for volunteer use)
  • Printer (for volunteer use)
  • Other items are welcome, we are not sure what all is needed at this time.

Client Support:

Many of our clients do not have the ability to print off documents.  They may also need to use their phone as their computer when typing up a document.  We also have client support requests for food, toiletries, and other basic need items.

  • Toiletries – shampoo, conditioner, bath soap, toothpaste
  • Feminine hygiene items – pads and tampons

  • Gently used clothes, shoes, coats, purses, wallets, belts, ties,  jewelry, & hangers for the Drop & Shop free store
  • Reams of copy paper
  • Scissors
  • Computers (for client use)
  • Printer (for client use)
  • Car seats and booster seats
  • Other items are welcome, we are not sure what all is needed at this time.

School Supply Drive:

We have some items left from this school year due to rounding up to whole cases on our order.  The list below are the items we do not have available or have very few.  Until we get supply lists from those requesting assistance, we do not know exactly what is needed.

  • 24 pack crayons
  • 2-pocket plastic folders without brads
  • Reams of copy paper
  • 5″ blunt tip scissors
  • White boards & eraser – individual size
  • Baby wipes (clean white boards & wipe off desks)

Sponsor & Partner Opportunities

Homeownership Center:

Information about the Homeownership Center can be found on the survey page.  If you are in anyway involved in helping individuals or families get financially ready to purchase a home, the actual sale or purchase of a home, renting an apartment, or maintaining a home (plumbing, electrical, appliances, lawn care, painting, flooring, utilities, pest control, etc.), we encourage you to complete the survey and share your thoughts about what you would like as a sponsors.  Completing the survey does not commit you to being a sponsor, even though we would love to have you on board.  The funds from the sponsorships will help create the financial stability needed to lease a space with confidence.

  • Join us in acquiring NeighborWorks Homeownership Center certifications

Vehicle Assistance:

Many families are currently struggling more than ever.  With reduced hours and lost jobs, having the money to repair a vehicle is non-existent.  Without a working vehicle, clients cannot get to the food pantry, doctor’s appointments, pick up prescriptions, go to the grocery store, take their children to school, or drive themselves to work.  If they can’t work, they cannot earn money to pay for the housing and end up homeless.  If they cannot work or get to the doctor, any illness could end up going untreated.  We have had a family where a diabetic was skipping his insulin so that the children could get the therapies and medications needed to treat their autism and other health related issues.

  • Financial contributions to help cover the cost of parts, labor, tow, and anything else needed to safely and legally drive the vehicle.
  • Partner auto repair, parts, and accessory businesses
  • Ice scrapers, brushes, and gloves to clear off the car
  • Automotive repair services

  • Thermal blanket to be kept in the car

Volunteer Opportunities

In-Person Volunteer Opportunities:

Because we do not currently have our own space, in-person volunteer opportunities are very limited.

  • Assist with work day type fundraiser opportunities.  Opportunities such as working a concession stand at KS Speedway, volunteering at KC Pumpkin Patch, or stocking inventory surges for Napa. (none are currently scheduled)
  • Transportation assistance – the ride services either are not running or are limiting the rides to once a week.
  • When the school supply drive for 2021-2022 is ready to pre-pack backpacks, volunteers will be needed
  • When our own space is leased, volunteer opportunities will exist to help revamp the space to meet our needs – flooring, painting, electrical, plumbing, moving furniture and supplies, and setup at least.
  • At networking events, make connections to potential partners, sponsors, and those who also help individuals or families in some way in similar need.  Also connect with anyone in a homeownership related field.
  • Be a guest speaker on Financial Fix
  • Provide short educational videos to share your money saving tips on An Expert’s Take.

Virtual Volunteer Opportunities:

We would love to have all volunteers in-person, but that is not feasible at this time.  Many behind the scenes tasks can be completed virtually.  Let us know if you would like to volunteer by submitting the contact us form or the leadership team inquiry form.

  • Marketing and promotion of workshops and other services as they become available
  • Financial related videos focused on your area of expertise
  • Grant research assistance by looking through grant opportunities that fit our mission and need.  You do not have to write the grant, just help identify them.
  • Administrative assistance type tasks
  • Fill an open position on the board of directors.  We currently need a treasurer and at least one general member. 
  • We would like to have an advisory board comprised of experts in many areas ranging from high-level program development and needed service identification to ensuring Moneytalk itself is considered.
  • Be a guest speaker on Financial Fix
  • Provide short educational videos to share your money saving tips on An Expert’s Take.

Online Shopping

Online shopping opportunities that give back:

There are many online stores that give back to a non-profit of your choice.  Some are directly through the store, others are through a third-party app.

  • AmazonSmile gives a percentage back to the non-profit.  The same items at the same prices using the same prime membership benefits – the only thing different is the giving back.
