2017 Goals

1) Summer Money Camp

Offer 3-5 day summer money camps targeting High School Students, College Students, and Young Adults.  They will learn financial life-skills including:  setting goals; creating and sticking to a budget; managing a bank account; insurance basics, types of taxes; protecting their identity; and successfully managing their credit.  Students will learn through a combination of lecture, activities, inter-active exercises, and real-life application.  Students will also receive a copy of the topic workbooks.

2) Workshops Available in Community Locations

Offer financial life-skill workshops in community locations.  Currently, workshops are only offered in schools, non-profits, and correctional facilities.  We plan to begin offering workshops at public locations such as our office, library, community center, churches, etc.  We have multiple organizations requesting these workshops as resources for their clients.

3) Expand Workshops Within Non-Profit Organizations

During 2016, financial life-skill workshops were conducted in 4 JAG-K schools.  The JAG-K supervisor has requested our workshops be offered in their other schools as well.  This will mean we are conducting workshops in schools in Wyandotte, Johnson, Douglas, Shawnee, Atchison, and Leavenworth Counties in Kansas.

Financial life-skill workshops have been conducted in partnership with 3 other non-profits for the benefit of their clients.  There are multiple non-profit organizations requesting financial life-skill education and case management for their clients.

4) Lunch & Learn Workshops

We have been requested to create financial life-skill workshops targeted at parents.  These workshops will be teaching parents how to teach these life-skills to their children.  The plan for these workshops is to offer them as a Lunch & Learn or 1/2 day opportunities for the employees of for-profit organizations.

5) Expand Moneytalk’s Capacity

In order to support the requests we have received, Moneytalk will need to obtain our own office space and additional volunteers.  Additional donations and fundraising will be needed to cover the cost of rent, utilities, insurance, background checks, furniture, equipment, and such.
